Happy New Year! We are excited to start 2019 with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement for learning and activities. We hope that everyone had a fabulous holiday and that you are feeling like school routines are falling into place.

School Council – Please come on out to our January meeting, Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 7pm. Childcare is provided. All are welcome. We will be looking all of the planned events for the new year.

Tuesday Cookie Sales – our grade six classes are hoping to reduce/cover the cost of the bus for grade six camp. They will be selling Terra Cotta cookies every Tuesday at both nutrition breaks. Cookies are $2 each; they’re delicious, a really good size and meet the Ministry’s nutrition guidelines.

STEAM FAIR – our annual STEAM fair will be held on tuesday, March 5th. Infomation has been sent home, as well, can be accessed on this site. Registration forms will be sent home Jan 14th. This is a really exciting event for MJ students!

February 6 is Provincial WALK TO SCHOOL Wednesday! Plan ahead and prepare to walk!

Kindergarten Online Registration starts next week – Jan 14th.  Please encourage anyone you know with Kindergarten age students to register sooner than later. The school board determines the number of classes for the Fall by March 31st. We’re looking forward to meeting our newest Jaguars for orientation on April 30th.

The Walking School Bus – We are so pleased that we have routes running for our Walking School bus. We continually need volunteers, even if you are able to do one walk per week!! Every walker takes away from drop off and pick up times. If you are interested in being a Walk Leader for one of the 3 routes, please register here:

The Walking School Bus is still walking through the winter and we invite all families to consider joining! Clair Creek – Mon to Thurs:

Begin at Branstone/Clair Creek near UB 1 Pool, and walk along Amberwood. 

Meet at 8:40am

Leighland – Wed and Fri:

Begin at Buckingham Blvd., walk along the hydro-line corridor to reach Leighland and walk along Leighland to Keats Way.

Meet at 8:40am

**Please note that for this Friday, January 11 only there is no Leighland walk
NEW YEAR Resolution – this message is for families who drive their children to school: please aim to drop off for 8:55-9:00am. There is almost NO traffic on Brynhurst at that time! Please pay attention to the no parking signs. There is a drop off area in front of the bus zone. There is no parking up until the sign on the light standard at the fence/walkway. If you park there, you take up a drop off spot! Thanks for following the rules to keep our students safe.
