It’s the LAST week of school! Summer is around the corner and MJ staff and students are working hard to wrap things up!

Saying Goodbye – This year, we are grateful for the work of our Long Term Occasional staff! We appreciate that they were able to quickly build strong relationships and ensure transitions were as smooth as possible.

We say good bye and thank you from the bottom of our hearts: Mlle Cudney – we wish you well as you begin your new French position at Sir Adam Beck. Mrs. Mitchell – we thank you for stepping in for Ms. Heymans. Mrs. Huang – we appreciate your leadership in Spec Ed. Mme Van Klink – you were a star, taking over from various teachers in P3 for Mme Grant. Ms. Hopkins – you have been a part of MJ for a while now, we appreciate the many roles you’ve supported.

We say good bye and thank you to Miss Kakar (Miss K). We were so grateful that she could fill in for Mrs. Ball this year. Miss Perston worked in the afternoons as our Child and Youth Worker. We wish her all the best as she pursues further schooling. Mrs. Aslam was a wonderful addition to our Kindergarten team, we wish her well as she starts her role as DECE at Keatsway P.S.

MJ is getting a new Principal – Mr. Tim Pugh was warmly welcomed by students this past Friday afternoon. Students were very excited to learn that he speaks French really well!!  Mr. Pugh will take the reigns on Friday, June 28th, officially on September 1st. Mrs. Bileski and Mr. Pugh have been working together to ensure a smooth transition.

Gr. 6 Graduation Celebration – Wednesday June 26 2:00 pm. We are so proud of our graduates! This group of students has contributed so much to MJ’s positive culture. We thank them for so many things: leading PALS, being a part of Me2We, partnering with younger students as buddies and lunch helpers, daily announcements, folding Lost and Found, music, Kodaly Choir, philanthropy through MJ365, Talent Show, Track and Field, Zen Den and LIT (Leaders in Training) and much much more! You have been a creative, thoughtful group who will leave MJ with kindness in your hearts and big dreams to pursue!

Class Lists for the 2019-2020 year – “Waterloo Region District School Board is committed to keeping your children safe. To comply with privacy legislation we are changing the way we communicate elementary students’ home classrooms. Class lists will no longer be posted on the outside windows or doors of your child’s school. Details about how to find your child’s class information can be found on the WRDSB website.”

Lost and Found – are you missing anything? We have MANY items in our collection. Please encourage your child to look for a specific item. Clothing, shoes, snow pants, winter jacket… we have it ALL!! Items will be packed up on Thursday and donated.

Have a safe and Happy Summer. We will see you back here on Tuesday, September 3rd. Please check School Day for any announcements. Please remember that our Kindergarten students will not have a staggered entry, they will all arrive on September 3rd.
