Walk to School Wednesday: A Walk in Their Sneakers – Tomorrow morning, Waterloo Region Police will be pairing up with the MJ community on our walk to school. Come and join us at Bennington Gate and Clair Creek at 8:30am. If you are walking from other areas of the neighbourhood, meet us at the back of the school for your ‘Walk to School sticker’. We are working really hard to create a safe space around the drop off and pick up areas. You can help by letting your children walk to school! See you there.

Walking School Bus – We are so grateful and thankful for our walking school bus leaders! We have two routes that continue to run without a hitch! Here is the information for our two routes:

Meet at 8:40am

——

Leighland – Wed and Fri:

Begin at Buckingham Blvd., walk along the hydro-line corridor to reach Leighland and walk along Leighland to Keats Way.

Meet at 8:40am

Grade Six Camp – The Grade six students at MJ are so fortunate to be able to attend overnight camp June 5, 6 and 7. It has been a long standing MJ tradition to celebrate the time spent learning and growing. During camp, students will engage in collaboration, outdoor education, survival skills, arts, games and physical many creative activities. Students are getting really excited about their up-coming adventure. In order to keep the cost manageable, our students have been selling cookies, and now ice cream sandwiches. The funds raised will help to pay for the cost of the bus. On behalf of the students and teachers, we would like to say a great big THANK YOU, for supporting this endeavor!

Grade Six Graduation – On Wednesday, June 26 we will celebrate our grade six graduates. We like to keep this event nice and low-key, as we know they will have a big celebration when they graduate from grade eight. This short ceremony will take place in our gym. Parent volunteers always do a fantastic job organizing this event. If you are able to help, please call or email.

EQAO – Every year our grade three and six students write this provincial assessment. The questions on the test are based on the Ontario Curriculum. Because teacher’s lessons are always based on the curriculum, our students will be ready. We have taken the time to ensure our students are prepared by giving sample tests and helping each one understand test taking behaviours so that no one feels any anxiety during testing time. The results of the assessment help us to set goals, refresh resources and hone our skills. If you have any questions about EQAO, please contact Mrs. Bileski at the school.

MJ Community Calendar – Thanks to Mrs. Devereaux! She has enabled our MJ Website Calendar and entered all the important up-coming events.  It is really simple to add our events to your Google Calendar. If you are not running with Google, you can add using ICAL or HTML. If none of that makes sense, simply click on the Calendar tab on our MJ website!! On this calendar, you will see any upcoming class trips as well as whole school events.
