STEAM Fair – One more sleep until our STEAM Fair begins! Click on the reminder notice here: MJ Science Fair Reminder 2019
If you are driving your child to drop off their project, please do not park in the school parking lot, the bus zone or the drop off zone.
The Chaos on Byrnhurst Blvd. – This year we have been working really hard to bring awareness to safety on Brynhurst. It is interesting to note, things are getting worse instead of better. The school has received an increased number of calls relaying close calls, double-parking, U-turns and parking in the bus/drop-off zone. If you are frustrated and feel things are unsafe, please feel free to call police dispatch, non emergency line at 519-653-7700, then please call the city of Waterloo By-Law enforcement 519-747-8785 to request more frequent monitoring. We need to keep our students safe!!
Me2We – THANK YOU! Once again, our amazing community has stepped forward to help others! Thank you so much for sending in items during the Week of Giving. The Waterloo Wayside Centre was thrilled to receive the many items: toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant and underwear! Thanks to our motivated Me2We group. These students are learning so much about active participation in the community, helping others along with being excellent leaders. Thank you to their teachers; Mme Shantz, Mr. Kraft, Mrs. Lago and Mr. Howard, for putting in so much time and energy to organize and inspire this group of students. If you check out our Twitter feed, you will be able to view the ‘dress your teacher’ parade! It was a riot!
School Council – Thanks to the group who trekked through the ice/rain to attend our February meeting. School Council Minutes Feb 2019
Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 17th. Come join us as we finalize plans for the year and set goals for next year.
At this past council meeting, the group took time to discuss the possibilities of replacing our old and broken School Sign. A sign gives a first impression, shares important messages and reminds parents of important up-coming events or tasks. A sign lets the neighbourhood know what we are all about! Getting a new sign is a big endeavor; even with the board supporting the purchase, the cost will be substantial. We are working with WRDSB facilities to access quotes, styles etc.. to see what will work for MJ! If you have questions, ideas, connections, please be sure to set aside April 17th for further sharing.
