Brrrrr! It’s finally winter. Hopefully the deep-freeze we are experiencing will let up soon. Thank you for sending your children to school with all their warm winter gear. If you notice that they are missing something, it’s most likely in our lost and found! We sent away three tables worth of donations before the holidays; we already have three tables full since we returned January 7th. There are quite a few snow pants up for grabs. Thank you to parent volunteer, Mrs. Reid for taking the time to set up our lost and found tables in the front entrance. Label your child’s clothing with the fantastic  Mabel’s Labels

School closure or cancellation policy: check out the link on our WRDSB website  for all the instructions around Bus Cancellation and School closures: Inclement Weather. You can also check out our local radio stations for announcements.

Today was toooooo cold to play outside! When the temperature or wind chill is below -20, we keep students inside. The risk of frostbite is too great even though we LOVE our outdoor playtime.

Visions of Turtle Island – On Wednedsay, students will be treated to a preformance by Tribal Vision: Visions of Turtle Island. We are really excited to welcome the performers and learn more about First Nations culture. Thanks to our School Council for providing this opportunity.

Kindergarten Registration – We are so excited to meet our newest Jaguars. Please let your neighbours know that it’s time to register. We would love to re-fill our four exsisting classes. We really appreciate receiving registrations early as the school board sets the number of classes based on the number of registrations we receive before March 31st. Please register asap. Thanks so much.

Dogs on Property – This is a gentle reminder that our board wide policy asks you to keep your pets off of school property. We do make an exception for therapy dogs.

STEAM Fair – How are the projects going? Have you received the information that was sent home last week? We are really excited for this annual event, happening here on March 5th.

School Council – Please see the Minutes of last week’s meeting School Council Minutes Jan 2019 Our next meeting is February 13th at 7pm in the Library. School Council typically runs three fundraisers per year. This year we will once again host Prof Jamz for a whole school Moveathon. Our students LOVE to move and Dance and raise funds at the same time! Our day to MOVE is Thursday, March 21. Parent volunteers will be needed to support this activity throughout the day. If you are able to help, save the date and please call the school to let us know.

Another School Council discussion will be around supporting the purchase of an electronic school sign for the front lawn. If you have noticed, the messages on our current sign are not changed very often as it is damaged/broken in a few areas that are no longer able to be repaired. It’s old and has served it’s time since the opening of the school! Please come on out and help us brainstorm around a replacement plan.

Walking School Bus – We are always looking for volunteer walkers, even if you are able to do one trip per week! Click here to register
