Hello Families! Below is the news for the next two weeks.
New MJ T-Shirts! – We LOVE our new shirts. If you would like to purchase a shirt, drop by the office any morning next week, Dec. 18-22 – 8:30-9:00am and 3:30-4:00pm. They are $10.00 each.
Poinsettia Sales and Toy Mountain – Every year, MJ students and community love to give back! Toy Mountain has been a traditional favourite MJ charity during the holiday season. Our Me to We student group is THRILLED to announce that the poinsettia sales raised $1185.43. The team headed over to Canadian Tire, where they filled 4+ carts. A huge shout out to Canadian Tire for giving the team excellent deals on their purchases. Thank you to our Me to We students, teachers and community for your giving spirit.
French Immersion- If your child is in senior Kindergarten and you are would like to enroll him/her into French Immersion, registration opens on January 10, 2018. Confirmation letters will be sent to registrants by the end of March 2019. If you do register, it is understood that your child will be in the program in September of 2018. If you are not sure, please be sure to consult with your child’s teachers. Moving out of the program after March affects the organization of our classes.
We are already thinking about our newest students for the Fall of 2018!! If you know of any neighbourhood JK or SK students, please pass on this information: Online registration will begin in January, 2018!! We are hoping to fill our 4 classes again, it truly helps if students are registered before March 30, 2018 as the school board will assign the number of classes at that time. Please help spread the word!!
Parking and the Bus Zone – Drivers continue to park in the bus zone. If you are dropping your child off in the morning, please DO NOT park in the bus zone. It’s easy to identify this stretch of road in front of the school on Brynhurst Blvd. – the zone is between two light posts and is clearly marked, “No stopping or parking from 8am -5pm”. Please do not use the parking lot for drop off or pick up. This is a safety issue for students. Thank you for taking the time to leave early enough in the morning to arrive on time and park on a side street. There are duty teachers out at 8:55am.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year… for colds and flu! – It’s a usual occurrence; colds and the flu often hit hard through the winter months. We do our best to keep your child at school for as long as we possibly can. If illnesses are serious, for example, they are fevered, vomiting or have diarrhea; we call you immediately for a pick up. If your child is feeling unwell, we do a little bit of triage before we call you. Please ensure all contact information is up to date. If your child is ill and will be away, please, please call the attendance line at 519-747-1620 and press 1 for attendance. If you don’t call, it’s extra work for our secretaries to call you to find out where your child is. Thanks for your cooperation.
